Choose stamp spacing for the border you are drawing

A leaf brush can look attractive as one stamp and turn into an unreadable rope along a border. Inspect the individual mark and the gap between marks before buying more tips or changing every brush control. Krita’s brush-tip documentation distinguishes spacing from shape and size. Use a short original border to judge the repetition you actually need.

Inspect a single stamp first

Use a tip you made or are allowed to use and place one mark at the intended approximate size. Check its silhouette and internal gap. If that mark is already unclear, increasing the stroke’s spacing will not redesign it. Keep one straight test line and one gentle curve ready for comparison. Use the same colour and background so the spacing decision is not disguised by a more flattering contrast in one version.

Compare spacing with the other choices held still

Krita documents spacing as the distance between brush-tip impressions. Consult the current setting for the engine you use and compare a few labelled alternatives without changing tip size or rotation at the same time. Look for accidental joins, distracting gaps and clumps on the curve. Do not assume a dense border is always richer. The border may need to support nearby text rather than become the strongest element on the page.

Test the border beside real content

Place the candidate around a small text block or artwork area with the intended margin. Inspect corners separately; a pleasing straight segment does not solve every turn. If a manual corner element is needed, label it with the brush resource. Keep the editable tip, chosen preset and a modest specimen together. A usable brush pack explains the task it supports instead of promising that one repeating stroke automatically creates a finished decorative composition.
