SANJIESAN CREATOR / BUYING GUIDE

Choose a brush pack for your application and task

A brush pack’s demonstration image combines the brush with the artist’s drawing, colour and composition. Decide what mark you actually need before buying the package behind that image. A short compatibility and use brief is more helpful than choosing the largest collection or assuming every brush format opens in your current application.

Start with one missing mark

For a fictional poster exercise, write that you need a rough dry edge at the final poster size, rather than a vague retro look. Record your application, version, device and any required input method. RetroSupply’s brush catalogue separates several application families; its Photoshop Risograph product page, for example, identifies Photoshop in its specifications. That is a reason to inspect the exact edition, not evidence that a similarly named pack works across every application or device.

Read the delivered contents

Check whether the purchase contains brush presets, texture images, palettes, instructions or a mixture. Ask which component produces the effect you want and whether the demonstration relies on additional materials. Read the seller’s current usage and redistribution terms for your intended output. Do not assume that receiving a preset allows you to resell the preset file. If a legitimate sample is offered, use it for a small compatibility check; no download or practical test was performed for this article.

Choose the smallest relevant purchase

Prefer the compatible package that addresses the named mark. If only a complex finished image is shown, ask for a plain line or fill example at a relevant size. Compare the task with your existing brushes: the missing effect may depend on technique or a texture combination rather than a new preset. Postpone the purchase when the exact format or necessary component remains unclear. Keep the selected product and its unresolved questions with the project brief.
