Separate pressure-driven line width from a colour change

A pen stroke can become wider and darker at the same time, making it difficult to tell why a line feels heavy. Krita documents size as a sensor-controlled curve rather than simply the brush diameter. Inspect one relationship at a time on a duplicated preset. This is a drawing-control exercise, not a claim about a particular tablet’s sensitivity or physical comfort.

Describe the visible change before editing

Draw a simple original contour that moves from a fine edge into a heavier overlap. Inspect width and darkness separately. Ask whether the intended drawing needs both to change or only one. A thick dark overlap can be appropriate, but it may also hide a delicate corner. Keep an untouched sample and the original preset so later comparisons refer to the same drawing problem rather than to a vague impression of responsiveness.

Inspect the active relationship

Use the preset’s documented sensor controls to identify what pressure affects. On a duplicate, isolate a size response for comparison without assuming that locking a curve locks the physical brush-tip diameter. Avoid altering several sensors and the base tip together. Draw the same short contour again and compare the transition. The question is whether the mark now has a usable range, not whether the curve resembles someone else’s recommended shape.

Try the response on a necessary detail

Return to a small part of the illustration that needs both a thin passage and a clear overlap. Inspect the result at the intended size. If the thin passage disappears or the overlap becomes too blunt, revise the drawing or response deliberately. Keep a short example with the preset’s purpose, such as contour work with restrained width variation. It explains when to use the preset without promising that one pressure curve will suit every hand or every brush.
