Read the board’s duration before adding the music

Music can make an early sequence feel more complete while a glance or action still has no room to read. For one review pass, keep the visual timing audible only in the discussion: what needs to be seen, and how long did the draft actually leave it there?

Write the timing basis beside the sequence

Record the draft frame-rate setting and the range being reviewed. Krita’s timeline manual explains that frame timings are based on frames and playback depends on rate and speed settings. Use a consistent basis when comparing two versions. Do not describe a number of frames as a fixed number of seconds without stating the relationship used. Keep the sample short enough to inspect a specific action rather than making a general claim about the entire film’s pacing.

Ask what each pause is doing

Play the visual sequence without relying on the music and identify the moments intended for noticing, acting and reacting. These are review prompts, not mandatory categories for every scene. If a crucial object is visible only during an unrelated movement, note that overlap. Try a modest change to the hold or transition and compare it with the earlier version. Keep feedback tied to the event the viewer needs to follow rather than an unexplained request to make the whole scene more cinematic.

Return the soundtrack and inspect the combination

Once the visual question has been explored, restore the intended sound and check whether the revised timing still serves the complete draft. Preserve both review conditions so a collaborator understands which conclusion came from which pass. Do not claim that removing music proves a sequence is objectively better or worse. It is a way to isolate a question during development. Keep the accepted duration and any unresolved sound dependency with the board notes.
