SANJIESAN CREATOR / Texture review

Look for texture seams at the distance of use

A texture can appear clean at full resolution and show a coloured line when the model becomes small. Adobe’s Painter padding reference explains that extending UV-island borders helps avoid incorrect colour bleeding in lower-resolution mipmaps. Use that mechanism as one diagnostic possibility, rather than assuming every visible seam has the same cause.

Choose a seam that the camera actually sees

Use a small invented textured prop with a known UV boundary. Keep one close view and the ordinary view expected in the final scene. Inspect the seam in both, including where a bright region sits beside a darker UV island in the texture layout. Record whether the problem is a change of colour, a shifted pattern or a shading break. Those observations lead to different investigations and are more useful than the word seam alone.

Check export settings without repainting first

Compare the actual export and destination settings with the relevant padding documentation. Inspect whether the exported image has the intended border treatment around its islands. Do not immediately paint a dark line across the source to camouflage an issue that appears only at a distance. That would change the original artwork without resolving the export question. Keep a copy of the unchanged source while testing the specific receiving route.

Recheck colour, pattern and shading separately

After a targeted change, return to the same near and ordinary views. If colour bleeding improves but a pattern still jumps, investigate UV alignment instead of increasing padding again. If only the lighting breaks, inspect the relevant surface and shading setup. Keep the diagnosis limited to what the comparison shows. A useful review states which appearance changed at which distance, rather than claiming one setting makes all materials seam-free.
