Let an object cross a panel border for a clear reason

An object crossing a panel edge can make a gesture more prominent, but it can also look as though it belongs to the next scene. Clip Studio Paint documents drawing above a frame folder to show artwork beyond its mask. Use that technical possibility only after deciding what the border crossing should communicate in an original page study.

Choose the gesture that needs emphasis

Draw an original figure extending a harmless plain prop toward the viewer. Keep one version fully inside the panel. In a comparison, allow only the intended part to cross the border. State whether this should suggest proximity, interruption or a moment of heightened attention. Do not let hair, clothing and background objects all break the edge without a purpose, because the effect can lose its specific emphasis.

Control the visible overlap deliberately

Use the documented layer arrangement on a working copy and inspect where the artwork covers the frame line. Keep the object’s shape complete enough to read while avoiding stray marks outside the intended area. Check that border lines do not appear through an opaque object. Do not erase unrelated artwork destructively just to obtain a presentation screenshot; preserve an understandable structure for later pose or frame revisions.

Check the neighbouring panel’s claim on the space

View the whole page at its reading size. Ask whether the crossing object appears attached to its own figure or mistakenly enters another event. Check nearby balloons and any important detail in the adjacent panel. If the effect interrupts the wrong reading path, shorten the crossing or choose the contained version. Keep it only when the extra emphasis contributes more than the new ambiguity it creates.
