Keep an intentional corner when smoothing a drawn line

A smoothing setting that helps a long curve may make a small pointed corner awkward. Krita documents several smoothing behaviours, including stabilisation that trails the cursor. Evaluate the result on the kinds of marks in your drawing. A smoother-looking sample is not enough if the tool removes the turn that explains a folded edge or a narrow leaf tip.

Include three different movements

Prepare a long shallow curve, a deliberate corner and a short tapered ending beside each other. Draw them with the existing preset before changing smoothing. Keep the view and brush size comparable. Note which part needs help: wobble along the curve, placement at the turn or an unexpected tail after lifting the pen. These are different problems, and a change that helps one may make another more noticeable.

Compare a modest change in context

Use the smoothing controls described for your installed version and make a small comparison. Do not copy an old numeric recommendation without checking its meaning; the documented controls have changed across versions. Inspect where the visible line follows or lags behind the cursor and how the turn completes. If you need to pause differently to obtain the corner, decide whether that interaction fits the drawing rather than assuming every delay is automatically an improvement.

Inspect the completed contour

Return to an actual small contour from the illustration. Look at the corner and both adjacent segments after the pen is lifted. Check for a straight tail, rounded tip or displaced endpoint that was less obvious while moving. Keep whichever behaviour supports the intended mark with understandable control. You can use a different approach for short details and long curves; the drawing does not need one smoothing choice imposed on every line.
