Give the viewer time at the end of a camera move

A frame can arrive at the right detail and leave before the viewer has read it. Changing the movement curve and holding the final composition answer different questions. Use a short invented sign reveal to compare them. Keep the artwork fixed while judging whether the arrival, the reading interval or both need attention.

Specify what must be understood

Write a short sign with one meaningful direction and choose its final size in the frame. Ask what the viewer must retain before the next shot. Do not fill it with decorative text that changes the reading task between versions. Draw a beginning and ending composition with a clear path. A longer movement is not automatically a longer opportunity to read if the sign remains too small or partly hidden until the very end.

Change one timing decision at a time

Adobe’s animation overview distinguishes linear, hold and eased keyframes. In your chosen tool, consult its current timing controls rather than transferring another application’s exact settings. Compare a steady arrival with a gentler stop while keeping the final reading interval unchanged. Then compare two final holds with the movement unchanged. Label these as alternatives, not a claim that every reveal should slow down. The scene’s rhythm can legitimately need a sharper arrival.

Check comprehension before polishing the move

Play the rough sequence at the intended speed and ask what the sign said, without pausing it for the viewer. If reading fails, identify whether size, contrast, arrival or hold is responsible before adding more keyframes. Inspect the next shot too, because the transition can remove useful context. Keep the selected timing explanation with the scene. A smooth curve is worthwhile only when it supports the information and rhythm the sequence needs.
