Use fewer onion skins to see the pose you are changing
A crowded overlay can make a simple movement harder to judge. When every neighbouring drawing is visible, the current pose may disappear inside a cloud of outlines. Choose the relationship you are checking before enabling more onion skins. Krita’s documentation provides controls for frame offsets and opacity; use them to reveal the question, not to maximise the amount of visible information.
Choose one changing landmark
For a small wave, choose the wrist, elbow or fingertip you need to follow. Keep the current drawing visibly distinct and start with only the immediately relevant neighbouring frame. Write whether you are checking travel direction, spacing or a contact. These are different questions. A hand crossing the face may need an overlap check rather than another set of distant poses, so keep the diagnostic view tied to the actual decision.
Adjust visibility rather than redraw through confusion
Krita’s onion-skin documentation describes visibility and transparency by frame offset. Consult the current controls and reduce the overlays until the current and reference poses can be read separately. Keep previous and next directions distinguishable using the available treatment, without relying on one colour alone in the handoff. If the current pose looks different when overlays disappear, inspect the drawing itself before treating the tinted composite as a finished image.
Return to playback after the local edit
Hide the diagnostic overlays and play the rough movement at the intended speed. Check whether the edited landmark improves the action and whether another part now jumps. Keep only the useful diagnostic view in the working process rather than exporting it as the clean animation. If another animator continues the study, name the landmark and relationship checked. A clear local comparison is more useful than a screenshot containing every frame but no explanation of the correction.
